Liverpool poised to sign Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting CP.

The Reds have been linked with a host of forwards as the recruitment team are planning for an overhaul in the summer.

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres who has already scored 22 goals and laid on 10 assists in just 25 appearances this campaign.

The Reds will unlikely make a move this winter but they have their eyes set on the 25-year-old forward for a summer move.

Liverpool aren’t in serious need of a new striker even though Darwin Nunez hasn’t developed into an elite forward.

Gyokeres is brilliant in front of goal and at linking play and could be a viable option for the Reds.

Sporting CP legend Manuel Fernandes believes Gyokeres should complete a move to an elite club like Liverpool.

“Gyokeres is breaking records at Sporting and, honestly, I can say he is better than me,” he said to A Bola.

“Since I left Sporting, I haven’t seen a striker as complete as him. There are equals, but better players? No.

“He is a complete player, not only scoring but helping to score. If you have to leave, let it be to a big club, like Liverpool or Bayern Munich. But for now, he is doing well at Sporting. He is a serious and focused player.”
