The winger has been linked with summer exit

Despite a positive campaign last season, Jurgen Klopp is keen to make new signings this summer in order to strengthen the squad for next season. Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner admitted that the manager will be given transfer funds to add reinforcements in the transfer window.

The Reds have already completed the signing of Fabinho from Monaco and RB Leipzig’s midfielder Naby Keita, who will join them this month. But the club are looking to complete the signings of their other targets and wants it to be done as soon as possible.

Former BVB coach has prioritized signing a creative midfielder as he is looking for a replacement of Philippe Coutinho. They were close to agreeing a deal for Lyon star Nabil Fekir but the deal collapsed after the medical of French star was done.

The Premier League giants have now turned their attention towards Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

He joined the English side from Inter Milan for a club-record fee of £12 million, signing a 5 year contract in 2015. He has been a mainstay in the team since then, establishing himself as one of the best players in the league.

The club got relegated last season from the Premier League but the Switzerland International was one of the standout players, scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists.

The 26 year old is expected leave the Potters this summer and has already attracted attention from few Premier League clubs. He is reported to have a release clause of £13.5 million.

But Klopp’s side could face competition from one of the European giants. Barcelona are reportedly plotting to rival Liverpool for the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri according to Don Balon.

The La Liga champions see him as the perfect impact substitute to support their star-studded attack. The report claims that Ernesto Valverde wants to bring him in as an upgrade on Paco Alcacer to provide strength in depth in their squad.
