Liverpool are eager to tie down Divock Origi to a new long-term contract.

The Belgian striker gained legendary status at Anfield after his exploits last season. He scored several important goals to help his team lift the Champions League trophy.

His current deal expires in 12 months which means he could leave next summer for absolutely nothing. Origi is still only 24 years old and has developed into a decent striker.

This past season should be an implication of how his finishing has improved as well. Jurgen Klopp wants to secure his Anfield future and continue his growth at the club.

Of course, Origi will need to be convinced because he is still not the first choice striker under the German boss. Roberto Firmino has earned that place with attacking wizards like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane playing alongside him.

Origi had a brilliant start to his Liverpool career in 2015 but was unfortunately hit struck by an injury which greatly affected his future in the past 4 years. He was unsuccessful on his loan spell to Wolfsburg and only returned to the Reds last summer to possibly see out a year of his contract.

Instead, he impressed so much last season that Klopp has made it his priority to convince the Belgian into staying. Liverpool are not planning on making any big additions and are instead looking into the assets they do have.
