Liverpool to sign a new midfielder before the January transfer window closes

Jones has spoken to GMS that there are a lot of options still available to them in the market.

Liverpool are planning to find a new midfielder before the winter transfer window closes, journalist Dean Jones has informed GiveMeSport.

Liverpool have recently signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven this month. He didn’t get the debut now but before his debut, Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat against Brentford. They lacked a solid midfielder and it hurt them in the Premier League table.

The Athletic previously reported how Reds are ‘certainly’ in the mix for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham as Klopp is a ‘huge admirer’ of his.

Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez is another target for Liverpool following his outstanding exploits at the World Cup, but Chelsea are the frontrunners to get him.

The Telegraph reports that Liverpool are also ‘exploring a deal’ for Wolves’ Matheus Nunes, who is valued at £44m.

Jones has spoke to GMS that ‘there are a lot of options’ still available to them in the market.

“I think there are a lot of options still on the table for Liverpool and bearing in mind they’re not going to get Bellingham in January, and they do want, or they would like at least, a midfielder to come in this month.”
