Liverpool to step up Leicester preparations on Friday
According to Liverpool Echo, Premier League leaders Liverpool will step up their preparations for next week’s game against Leicester City at Anfield on Friday after returning from Dubai this week.
The Reds flew out to UAE after their 4-3 win over Crystal Palace last Saturday. Manager Jurgen Klopp made the most of a rare gap in fixture list by taking the players away from the spotlight.
The players were given some time off during a light training schedule as Klopp aims to allow his team a chance to recharge their batteries ahead of some gruelling games coming up in the next month or two.
The Liverpool squad flew back to Merseyside on Wednesday and were given a day off on Thursday. They are scheduled to normally train on Friday, with the league game against the Foxes on Wednesday night.
Before flying to Dubai, Klopp was asked about why he opted to plan this trip. He replied: “Away from the snow, eh? Not a lot to say about it, to be honest.”
“As a team, we are one group who all have individual situations. A few played 30 games, a few played 10, a few 15, a few have not played for three or five weeks.”
“That’s what we have to consider, that’s why we go there, to have recovery and rest for the very often-used boys, and a completely different programme for the other boys.
“We will not train very often as a big group, but we will try to get everybody in the best shape for the rest of the season.”
Liverpool are currently leading the table, four points clear of second-placed defending champions Manchester City.
