Liverpool Told To Pursue A Deal For Brentford's David Raya

Liverpool constant drop in performance due to a shaky backline seems to be costing them dearly.

Almost always, the Reds struggle to play their natural game when Alisson is taken out of the lineup.

That was the case last week when Aston Villa drilled them 7-2 at Villa Park. Their first goal came at the expense of an error made by backup keeper, Adrian. It was not the first time the 33-year-old has made obvious errors when placed in between the Liverpool posts.

Fans were so frustrated with Adrian that they even deemed Loris Karius to be a better number two pick than him. Something clearly needs to change and Liverpool’s answer might lie in the Championship. The domestic transfer market is still open and Jurgen Klopp has been urged to go after Brentford custodian, David Raya.

Speaking to Football Insider, Darren Bent said, “We are talking about the Premier League champions so it shouldn’t be that hard but where do you get a goalkeeper that is going to be happy coming into the team to play for six weeks until Allison comes back and then you’re back on the bench.

“It has to be a concern because they have seen firsthand what happens when you don’t have an adequate backup goalkeeper. The only one who I can think of as a potentially good back up goalkeeper is David Raya, maybe him.”

Arsenal were heavily considering Raya as their second choice once Emiliano Martinez left for Aston Villa. Clearly, the 25-year-old has enough talent to make it in the top-flight. Whether this particular situation at Anfield will appeal to him or not, remains to be seen.
