Liverpool told to sign Doucoure - why the Reds must avoid this transfer

The saying goes – if you cannot beat them, join them.

However, here we have a new case of if they beat you, sign them!

That is certainly what Owen Hargreaves, the BT Sport pundit and former Manchester United feels about Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Hornets brought an end to a 44 match unbeaten run of Liverpool by beating them 3-0 at Vicarage Road last week.

Ismaila Sarr scored twice and Troy Deeney capped off a magical night but the man who stole the show in midfield was Doucoure.

Doucoure has been tipped to join multiple big teams and Hargreaves reckons Liverpool could do with a player like him.

“He’s one of the most influential players in the Premier League who doesn’t play in the big six,” Hargreaves told Premier League productions, as quoted by the Daily Star.

“He’s one of those players who can give a team so much, he used to play a lot deeper but now he’s in the box a lot more.

“He’s got goals, he’s got assists he’s so athletic. He’s got that frame of Paul Pogba, he’s got a good touch and he can finish.

“This guy could play in Liverpool’s midfield, that’s how good he is.”

Whether Klopp will be taking Owen’s advice seriously we do not know but having Wijnaldum, Henderson, Fabinho, Keita, Chamberlain to play central midfield is enough quality for one team I would think!
