Kalvin Phillips seems frustrated at Manchester City.
The England international struggled for game time since his move to the Etihad in a £45million move last summer from Leeds United.
The 27-year-old midfielder was restricted to only 21 appearances last season but he still wants to fight for his place at the Etihad.
Phillips has been an unused substitute in all four of City’s competitive games so far in this campaign.
According to reports, Liverpool have reignited their interest in the English midfielder and could make an offer before the deadline day.
Pundit Danny Murphy believes Phillips would be a perfect addition to the Liverpool squad.
He said: “It would depend on the price. If it was half price of what they got for him then maybe it would make sense.
“But there is a stumbling block in terms of the perception. I think if Liverpool were seen to be getting a player at City who couldn’t get a kick, I’m not sure how that would go down.
“But I like him, I think he’s a talent and he needs to start playing. I wouldn’t be that disappointed if Liverpool got him, I think he’s a talent and he’d be great cover or even make that position his own because they’ve only got [Wataru] Endo who they’ve just brought in that can play that position.”
