Former Liverpool star Steve Nicol feels that Liverpool should make a move for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison in the summer. Maddison joined Leicester City from Coventry City last summer on a transfer fee reported to be £22.50 million. This made him the third most expensive player in Leicester City’s history.
Maddison who donned the No.10 shirt, had a pretty impressive first season with The Foxes, scoring 7 goals and providing as many assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
Nicol feels that Maddison could be a pretty good fit at Anfield. The 57- year old said, “Klopp’s recent three in the middle of the park for Liverpool, over the last couple of years particularly, has been about gaining possession back, about closing the opposition back, about working really hard and then getting the ball to the front three. I would love to see a little change in that with somebody like Maddison, who no question has already shown in the Premier League, from the middle of the park, he can open defences up, he can create chances.”
There were reports claiming that Liverpool would make a move for Maddison. Provided Liverpool do manage to sign the 22-year old, it will be a big bonus for them and at the same time, Jurgen Klopp could face a selection dilemma as Liverpool’s midfield already has some pretty good players.
