Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has said that Liverpool weren’t ready for the Manchester United game on the weekend.
The Merseysiders were held to a 1-1 draw against their fierce rivals, thanks to an 85th-minute equalizer from Adam Lallana. As a result, their winning run since the beginning of the season came to a halt as Man City managed to cut down their lead to six points.
“This was what United were all about. Challenges, tackles, making a derby, making it aggressive,” said Carragher.
“Liverpool were not ready in the first half for a derby game, for the intensity of this game.”
Former Manchester United defneder Patrice Evra said that Liverpool didn’t play the game like a derby.
“Yes, of course, because many people before that game were thinking Liverpool were going to beat them very easily.”
“I always say, a derby is a derby no matter what position you are in the league.”
“A derby is a derby, so that’s why I think we need to give a lot of credit to Manchester United.”
“Also I was disappointed with the performance of Liverpool, because they didn’t play that game like it was a derby.”
“They played like they were just playing Manchester who were 14 in the league.”
