The Liverpool team will be without Luis Diaz, Thiago Alcantara, and Naby Keita when they travel to Manchester City, but Darwin Nunez should be able to play at the Etihad Stadium

While midfielder Thiago is still absent due to a hip issue, winger Diaz, who has been out since October with a knee injury, is back in training but isn’t quite ready to make his return.

While forward Nunez is recuperating after suffering an injury in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Real Madrid and missing Uruguay’s March international matches against South Korea and Japan, Keita, who has had a season marred by injuries, is out once more.

Luis is back in tiny doses of training after a very, very long absence, according to manager Jurgen Klopp. Although it was wonderful to have him back, he will not exercise with us today. His return was such a boost. He’s out there running already. The first move back into training was this past week; he will build on that the following week before being prepared. It seems very hopeful, but we’ll have to monitor him every day to see how he handles the intensity.

Naby has left. He was injured for the national squad and returned with a muscle injury. The season isn’t too lengthy, but we’ll have to wait and see how long it takes. Although he has not yet returned to team exercise, Thiago is doing well. If all goes well, he’ll presumably take part in the team’s training session the following week. Due to the cut he received against Real Madrid on his foot, Darwin was unable to exercise for two or three days this week. However, he resumed training on Thursday, so he is now in the running.

If City’s leading scorer Erling Haaland is unable to play, according to Klopp, Liverpool will still concentrate on cutting off the supply lines to Guardiola’s forwards. “When you prepare for a game, everything is to avoid the final pass, and that is where Erling enters the picture and makes the difference,” he said. But if [Julian] Alvarez plays instead of him, City will be different but not any weakened. He is a great striker without a doubt.
