Young striker Paul Glatzel has signed a new long term contract, despite having an injury that will likely see him miss all of this season. He is one of the standout talents from the youth academy and has been recovering from a season long knee problem sustained while making his first team debut against Tranmere in the pre-season.
Glatzel joined the club at the pre-academy stage for U6. His record for the U18’s is pretty incredible after scoring 28 goals last season across domestic and European youth competitions. He was also the top-scorer in FA Youth Cup and helped Liverpool clinch the title.
While signing the new terms, the forward said: “It’s a great feeling, obviously.
“I was disappointed to get my injury at the start of the season, but it’s a great feeling and it shows that the club has got faith in me. Now I can just focus on my rehab and get back on the pitch.Â
“I’ve been at the club for so long and I just want to keep going and see where it takes me. Hopefully I can crack on now and keep going. The contract makes it easier.Â
“Mentally, it’s good to be able to focus on the rehab and know that there’s people that have faith in me and they know I’ll come back from my injury stronger and I’ll be ready when I’m back on the pitch.”
