Liverpool’s Melkamu Frauendorf shares heartfelt message after confirming departure

Liverpool midfielder Melkamu Frauendorf has bid a touching farewell to the club after his departure was confirmed. The 20-year-old, who has spent the past four years at Liverpool, has returned to Germany to join 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96.

Frauendorf, who moved to Liverpool from Hoffenheim at just 16, took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the club’s staff, coaches, and fans.

“As I embark on a new chapter at Hannover 96, I want to say goodbye and THANK YOU for the four wonderful years I spent at the Liverpool Academy,” he wrote.

“I couldn’t have wished for better training conditions. My special thanks go out to my coaches and teammates.”

During his time at Liverpool, Frauendorf made notable strides, beginning under Marc Bridge-Wilkinson in the under-16s and eventually progressing to the under-21s.

He made his senior debut in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury Town in 2022 and earned his first start in the Carabao Cup against Derby County.

The young midfielder, who has represented Germany at youth levels, highlighted the invaluable support he received from the Liverpool staff.

“Thank you to all the staff, especially the kitchen staff for the delicious food, and to my teachers who helped me succeed in my language classes,” he added.

Frauendorf also acknowledged the fans and his host family, who played a crucial role in his journey.

“To the fans who made it special to represent the Club at matches: Thank you! The hardest part of leaving Liverpool was saying goodbye to my host family. You are more than just hosts to me; you are family, and I will miss you dearly.”

His departure marks the end of an era, but Frauendorf’s heartfelt words reflect a deep connection with Liverpool and a promising future in Germany.
