Thiago Alcantara and Divock Origi will be unavailable until after the international break.
Assistant manager Pep Lijnders hands injury updates ahead of Liverpool’s semi-final second-leg clash against Arsenal on Thursday night at the Emirates.
He gives an update on three players in Thiago Alcantara, Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sustained a knee injury against Brentford and is expected to be sidelined for a couple of games.
On the other hand, Thiago and Origi has been out for a while and is only expected to return after the international break.
Thiago’s last encounter was against a 3-1 victory over Newcastle in December after which he tested positive before picking up an injury in training.
Lijnders said ahead of the Arsenal game: “Thiago hopefully he will be in full team training after the international break to prepare the Cardiff City game.
“Divock will be only after Cardiff.
“He [Oxlade-Chamberlain] feels okay, it’s not that bad and he’s really hoping that he will make the weekend but for tomorrow [against Arsenal] it will be way too soon”.
