Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has ignited fresh speculation about his future, revealing that discussions are ongoing with other clubs, including Barcelona, while he awaits clarity on his contract situation at Anfield.
Diaz Confirms Talks with Rivals; Wirtz Transfer Saga Continues
In a recent interview, Diaz expressed his contentment at Liverpool but acknowledged the realities of the transfer market:
“I’m very happy at Liverpool… We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs.
That’s normal given the transfer market that’s opening. We’re trying to arrange what’s best for us.”
Liverpool have reportedly turned down an inquiry from Barcelona regarding Diaz’s availability. Despite having two years remaining on his contract, no progress has been made regarding an extension.
The club remains firm on retaining Diaz, who is central to manager Arne Slot’s plans for next season.
However, they are unwilling to sell unless a substantial offer is made or if the player himself pushes for a transfer.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz continues. The German club has already rejected two transfer bids from Liverpool, the latest being £109 million, though personal terms have reportedly been agreed upon.
Former Leverkusen chief Rudi Völler acknowledged Wirtz’s desire to join Liverpool but cautioned that negotiations could “take a while.”
As the summer transfer window unfolds, Liverpool faces critical decisions regarding both incoming and outgoing players.
The club’s ability to secure Wirtz’s signature and resolve Diaz’s contract situation will significantly impact their preparations for the upcoming season.
