Luis Suarez is expecting a welcoming atmosphere when Barcelona take on Liverpool at the Anfield in the Champions League.

On the back of a 3-0 win over the Reds, the Catalan giants would sail away to the finals if they manage to find the net only once. Suarez had a quiet Champions League until the Liverpool game as he hadn’t scored a goal in the European competition.

But the Uruguayan chose his former team to open his account and went on to celebrate his goal which didn’t go well with a section of Reds supporters. He shot to fame with his stint at Liverpool where he had almost lifted the title with Liverpool back in the 2013-14 season but a costly slip from Steven Gerrard handed Manchester City the title.

Suarez said, “People who know about football know the importance of the goal I scored in the Champions League semi-final.

“I have all the respect in the world for the Liverpool fans. Because I scored it and celebrated it with my fans, I say sorry.

“I am very thankful to Liverpool, to the fans and to the club, and obviously it’s clear that if I score a goal against Liverpool [at Anfield] I won’t celebrate it. The same way I didn’t do in Holland when I scored [for Ajax against Groningen].”
