Manchester City are planning to give tough competition to Liverpool for the services of Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon during this summer’s transfer window. The Reds are heavily linked with the talented player.

Liverpool are keen to get the signature of the England international. He joined Newcastle from Everton in the beginning of 2023. The Reds could now face fierce competition for his signature.

As per the reports of Football Insider, the Premier League winners have joined the race for Gordon. Man City are keen to explore the finances surrounding a summer deal for the Englishman. The report adds that the Reds remain in discussions with the Magpies.

Newcastle want at least £75m for the 23-year-old with add-ons potentially taking the deal close to £100m. Man City boss Pep Guardiola wants his side to sign a ‘lethal’ forward this summer, and Gordon can replace Jack Grealish who is likely to leave the club this summer.

Grealish was recently left out of the England squad for Euro 2024 and he had a tough campaign for City. The 28-year-old only scored three goals and three assists in 36 appearances in all competitions for Guardiola’s side.

Grealish’s contract will expire in three years at Etihad Stadium. There have been claims that he could be allowed to leave for a suitable price during the summer market. Gordon also gained Champions League experience last season. He could be an impactful player for Liverpool and Man City.
