Nicolo Barella, a midfielder for Inter Milan, is increasingly in demand from Premier League teams, with Manchester United and Manchester City now vying for his services

The Manchester teams will compete against one another for the talented Italian midfielder, with Liverpool also interested. The trio from the Premier League have already begun to identify possible targets to bolster their midfield as they get ready for what is expected to be a hectic summer transfer window.

Marcel Sabitzer, who joined Man United on a temporary loan from Bayern Munich in January, has an uncertain long-term destiny, so the team is looking for a new midfielder. The Austrian international has performed admirably for Erik Ten Hag’s team, but it is unclear whether the organisation will attempt to extend his tenure.

However, despite their interest in Barella, any agreement to sign the Italian will be contingent on how the possible takeover of the club plays out. In the summer of 2019, Man City will compete with Real Madrid and Liverpool to acquire Borussia Dortmund player Jude Bellingham.

Ilkay Gundogan’s contract expires at the conclusion of the current campaign, so the City citizens are preparing for his departure. With Barca having a long-standing interest in the Portuguese playmaker, Bernardo Silva may also be on the move, necessitating the signing of a midfielder by City. While Bellingham is still their top priority, the club’s continuing legal troubles may prevent any deals for the England international, making Barella a more attainable target for Pep Guardiola’s team.

In addition to being interested in Barella, Liverpool is also planning to replace Bellingham in the middle of the field next summer. Inter will be hesitant to let Barella leave because he is a crucial member of the team, but the midfielder is attracting interest, which means Inter could receive a sizable payday. Barella’s previous asking price was a whopping €75 million, but the Nerrzzuri insist they will take no less than €80 million for their prized possession.
