Martin Zubimendi has now decided to turn down the offer to play in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s major transfer target has given an update on his transfer move to Anfield. Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is Liverpool’s main priority in the summer transfer window but the player has reportedly decided to stay in Spain this summer.
It’s a huge blow for Liverpool in pursuit of the 25-year-old midfielder. He showed a desire to remain at Real Sociedad despite transfer links with Arsenal and Barcelona. Previously, The Reds made some efforts to convince him to leave the La Liga giants.
Real Sociedad cleared their mind that they would release their player if his €60m (£51.7m) release clause was paid in full. The Reds were ahead in the race and they were ready to make solid offer.
As per the reports of the Athletic, Zubimendi has now decided to remain at Real Sociedad. The Spaniard recently won the Euro Championship and is in great touch. He has now decided to turn down the offer to play in the Premier League.
Zubimendi joined Real Sociedad at the age of 12 and made 188 appearances for the first team, scoring eight goals and seven assists. He will now feature in his club’s opening game in La Liga against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
