Paul Merson has said that Liverpool can win the title as early as in November if they manage to beat Manchester City next month. The Reds will face the Citizens on November 10, hoping to extend their lead to nine points at the top.
Liverpool finally dropped points against Manchester United in a draw after winning their first eight games. City, meanwhile, suffered shock defeats at Norwich City and Wolves before being held yo a draw by Tottenham.
And, Merson has told City to forget about the title if they fail to beat Liverpool next month.
“Six points is still a lot of points,” said Merson on The Debate on Sky Sports.
“They play Man City at home before they play them away.”
“I think if they beat them, I think that’s it.”
When it was put to him that November might be too early for the title to be decided, Merson replied: “You’re talking about a team that lost one game last season.
“They’re not a team that’s going to lose five football matches, and they’d have to lose five football matches – because Man City will lose another one, so that means they would have to lose five.”
