Arteta was asked what he thinks about Slot and what he may bring to the Premier League.
Liverpool announced the signing of the new manager Arne Slot this summer and his rival Mikel Arteta speaks out ahead of the new season. The Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has been speaking about Liverpool’s new head coach for the first time.
The Merseyside club will face the Gunners in a pre-season friendly in the USA. Both clubs fought hard in the title race last season. They lost to Man City in the end but had a great season.
During the press conference ahead of the pre-season game, Arteta was asked what he thinks about Slot and what he may bring to the Premier League. He said, “Well I don’t know him personally but I watched his past team and first of all I like him a lot as a person.
“The way he comes across, I heard very good things from players, who are probably the best ones to ask as well.
“Really impressive as well how he sets up his teams; the clarity and the quality of the team shows, so it is going to be a really good game.”
This is the first time when both will play against each other. Slot and Arteta haven’t played each other yet. Arsenal played two friendlies this summer. Mikel Arteta’s side played out a draw against Bournemouth before winning on penalties. They beat Man United before losing on spot-kicks. Meanwhile, Liverpool are coming off a win over Real Betis.
