Liverpool vice-captain James Milner has called for the side to embrace the nature of the Premier League title race. The title race got more exciting after Liiverpool drew 1-1 against West Ham on Monday night.

Liverpool are now only three points above reigning champions Manchester City. Tottenham aren’t much far behind as they are only five points behind Liverpool at the moment.

Milner has been a part of two of Manchester City’s Premier League winning squads including the one which won the Premier League at the very last moment in 2012. He knows what its like to be in a Premier League title race and he has called for his team to embrace it and give it their all.

Milner told Liverpool’s official site, “It is like that in football. You have ups and downs in your career and you have ups and down within a season. It is about not getting too down and there is such a long way to go, it wouldn’t surprise me if the lead changes hands all the way to the end, but we have to be confident we can get the job done. It is in our hands and there is a long, long way to go.

I think we should enjoy being in this position, these are the positions you want to play in. It is a lot worse at the bottom end of the league when you are fighting against relegation or playing for nothing in mid-table, so let’s enjoy it and push forward together – ourselves, the fans and the whole club – and embrace it.”

Liverpool next face Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday. Even though the match is at Anfield, facing a side that thrashed Chelsea 4-0 last week is not easy. Nevertheless, Liverpool will be hoping to get back to winning ways. Following their match against Bournemouth, the Reds host Bayern Munich in their Champions League last 16 first leg on the 19th.
