Owen lauds Liverpool's resilience

Liverpool are on a brilliant run at the moment.

Not only are they unbeaten in the Premier League, they are also the league leaders.

Klopp’s men look well set to snatch the league title this season from City after losing the league title by one point last season to them. The Reds collected 97 points last season, a record for any team to lose the title by winning so many points.

This time, they look set to correct that mistake and have a certain doggedness about them.

“It’s almost similar to Manchester United in Peter [Schmeichel]’s day,” says Owen, sitting alongside the Danish goalkeeper.

“Liverpool never say die. You always fancy them. I think Don Hutchison said in commentary that as soon as Liverpool score one, you fancy them to go on to win the game, and he was dead right.

“It was a frustrating game for them. It’s been frustrating in a lot of games this season.

“But somehow Liverpool have just managed to grind away, keep getting the points, because they haven’t been at their absolute top-class best in many games this season. But I suppose they’re going to need to next weekend.”
