Philippe Coutinho Does Not Regret Leaving Liverpool Despite Recent Success

Philippe Coutinho courageously admitted that he is “happy” for his former side Liverpool.

The Brazilian departed for Barcelona in 2018 in search of Champions League glory and Liverpool ironically, ended up beating his side to clinch the trophy for themselves a year later.

Coutinho insists he does not regret his decision to leave as he told Sports Illustrated, “Liverpool is flying, and it doesn’t surprise me. We’ve seen it already last year when they won the Champions League, but I’m also not surprised because of their fantastic squad and manager.

“I am so happy for them, because I have so many friends there, former team-mates, so I’m just so happy for them, but that’s all. I don’t look back. I took another path, and now I am on another journey, much like everyone else. I’m focused entirely – just like them – on reaching my dreams. I’m happy with what I did in the past, and now I can only look forward.”

Coutinho is currently on loan to Bayern Munich but he could be sent back to the Camp Nou after this campaign. The Bundesliga giants prefer to spend £120m on the younger Kai Havertz than the 27-year-old Brazilian.

Good news is Quique Setien is an admirer of Coutinho and has also expressed an eagerness to have him back in the Barca ranks. But deep inside, it is very hard to see how the attacker could still feel like he made the right decision to leave Anfield.
