Pundit suggest Liverpool could be getting more out of Mac Allister by pushing him up

“Alexis will be even better when he pushes a bit further up the pitch”, said Houghton.

Football Pundit Ray Houghton has suggested that the Reds could be getting more out of Alexis Mac Allister by pushing him up the pitch. The Argentine made the summer move from Brighton and impressed so far.

Jurgen Klopp wanted to boost his midfield and invested £35m for the summer move. He is now a regular player in his squad.

The former Liverpool man spoke on BBC Radio Merseyside (via BBC Sport), “The likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have fitted in and Alexis will be even better when he pushes a bit further up the pitch,”

“I watched him at Brighton and I liked him a bit further up, being the creator. He’s got great awareness and great vision, plus he can score goals. He’s sitting back and playing a bit deeper at the moment, which the manager has asked for, but I like the dynamic of the midfield.”

Liverpool are having a decent run of form this season and they are currently second in the table. They have won seven games and lost just one in the Premier League. The role of the 24-year-old is crucial if Liverpool want to challenge Man City this season.
