Reading enter transfer race for Rafael Camacho

Championship side Reading are reportedly attempting to secure a transfer deal for former Liverpool winger Rafael Camacho

According to a report from Record, Greek club Aris Salonika is ‘ideally positioned’ to complete a raid for the 22-year-old Camacho, who is under contract to Portuguese powerhouse Sporting. They are also aiming to lock up a deal for Andre Gray, who appears to be a target for the Royals.

The fact that Reading have suddenly “intruded” into Aris’ efforts to sign Camacho to their team may be a sign that Paul Ince is attempting to negotiate a loan agreement.

For the money Sporting spent Liverpool for Camacho when he was a youngster, they probably expected him to mature more than he has, but he hasn’t had much of an influence on their senior team.

When he made 19 league appearances in the 2019–20 season, things were good, but he hasn’t had much luck since, and his stint at Belenenses last year turned out to be fairly ineffective.

In previous years, Reading hasn’t been opposed to the occasional international transaction, but they are unable to pay a transfer fee for Camacho.

They would therefore have to rely on seeking to negotiate a financing agreement for Camacho’s services, even if it looks that Aris are also rather well along in their attempts to achieve so.
