Reports About Liverpool Targetting Ousmane Dembele Rubbished

It was only yesterday when news started circulating about Liverpool’s £80 pursuit of Ousmane Dembele.

Several sources claimed that Jurgen Klopp had fallen in love with the player since his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele’s future at Camp Nou has come under question in recent times. He has struggled with injuries and has overall failed to justify the £119m Barca paid for him in 2017. Liverpool were thought to be prepared to offer him an escape route, even if it meant breaking their own transfer record.

However, Spanish journalist, Guillem Balague has denied all these claims. He said on his own personal Youtube channel, “People are suggesting in the media that Dembele is wanted by Liverpool, but I don’t think so. They are very aware of his injuries and it’s a risk to take for Liverpool even though, of course, Klopp would like that kind of player.”

There is no doubt that Dembele’s talents will draw in any manager. He could be an ideal fit into Klopp’s system at Anfield but spending that sort of cash on an injury-prone player is not exactly wise for Liverpool. So far, the Reds’ recruitment has been outstanding under their German manager which has also led them to win the Champions League.

They are not going to jeopardize the club’s future all of a sudden by taking such a huge gamble. If Liverpool were to target any attackers this summer, it could be RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
