Liverpool fans have enjoyed a terrific campaign under Jurgen Klopp even without the Champions League final in June but the summer could bring up serious issues at Anfield.

The German boss who is so often supportive of promoting young talent has indulged in quite a few big-money transfers to put together a winning squad. He signed several players who have become integral parts of the first team, making it even harder for the club’s youngsters to get a chance.

Such has been the case with the highly promising attacking duo, Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson. The latter has been spectacular for Derby County in the Championship and has already gained a solid reputation amongst Reds fans. Kent has outstanding for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side as well, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have cemented their starting spots on the two flanks which has made it hard for an established professional like Xherdan Shaqiri to cut in regular minutes with the team. Kent and Wilson will be returning to Merseyside full of confidence but the current situation will seriously limit their expectations at the club.

“I don’t want to talk exactly what we will do, but I don’t think this is a team at the moment where we have to spend the big money or whatever,” Klopp told the press when he was asked about his transfer plans for the summer.

“The best way to do it is bring together a group of players, try to develop them all together and then stay together for a while.”

“That was maybe the main problem of Liverpool for the last decade. When they had a good team after a season they went all over the world. That will not happen this year for sure.”
