Ricky Lambert has praised his former teammate Danny Ings.

He said: “I knew he was good from his time at Burnley, but was surprised at how good he was when I saw him in training. Especially technically and skill wise. Very, very good. When he’s been fit he’s done extremely well, he’s caused a real handful to some of the top defenders across the country. If he gets fit and stays fit I’ve no doubt Southampton will stay in the league.”

The young forward has had to leave Liverpool and is now on loan at Southampton where he is playing well. He is a star forward and has been tipped to become a great player but never quite lived up to his potential.

However, it is also to be noted that it is not easy for any player to break into the forward line at Liverpool. Players like Sturridge and Shaqiri have had to settle for lesser roles in the bench.

The star players in Salah, Firmino and Mane have been in so good form over the last two seasons that no trio have scored more goals than them. Let’s hope Ings does find a way back!
