Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believes Firmino needs to be sold this summer.
The Brazilian forward has struggled for minutes under Jurgen Klopp last season and was out for many games due to injuries and illness.
He lost his place in the starting lineup and could be very much offloaded in the summer along with Sadio Mane who expressed his desire to leave Anfield.
Steve Nicol claims both these players should be sold in the same summer window.
“I think they should sell (Mane), if they can get £40 million for him, I think you take it. You’re almost getting what you paid for him and look what he’s done for you,” Nicol told ESPN.
“As I’ve said previously, you can’t keep everyone happy when their contract is coming down, there’s just not enough money so you have to make decisions.
“The fact you’ve still got (Mohamed) Salah, (Diogo) Jota, (Luis) Diaz, you’ve still got Firmino, probably need to replace him, makes it a lot easier to say ‘okay we’ll take £40 million for Mane.”
