Ruben Amorim remains focused amidst Liverpool managerial speculation

Ruben Amorim announced his silence amid rumours connecting him to Liverpool’s valued managerial vacancy. Following Xabi Alonso’s choice to remain with Bayer Leverkusen, Amorim appeared as a front-runner for the Reds’ top post.

According to reports from Portugal, Liverpool may have paid a world record amount of approximately £17 million to sign him from Sporting CP.

However, Amorim remains tight-lipped about the potential, stressing his current commitment on leading Sporting to Primeira Liga win.

“Right now, I’m focused on Sporting. I’m very proud to be Sporting’s coach,” he told Sport TV.

“We’re focused on winning titles. You’ll see in the end. I have a contract and I’m very happy here.

“That’s the most important thing, more than contracts, I’m very happy here. The focus is on beating Benfica in the Portuguese Cup.”

Although being tipped as a top candidate for the Liverpool job, the 39-year-old claims he is happy in Lisbon and remains dedicated to his current team.

Amorim’s managerial prowess caused global interest as he guided Sporting to their first Primeira Liga win in over two decades in 2021. His amazing rise from having little coaching experience to leading a historical championship win proves his capacity to excel on the international level.

Amorim’s future remains unclear in the face of Liverpool’s search, with his contract being extended until 2026 and his successful track record.

As suspicion grows, all eyes are on the valued manager, waiting his next move in the unfolding story of football’s management carousel.
