The forward was recently linked with a move to Real Madrid

Sadio Mane joined Liverpool from Southampton for a transfer fee of £34 million, signing a 5 year contract in 2016. He became the most expensive African player in history at that time.

The forward proved to be an instant hit under Jurgen Klopp and helped the club to finish in the top 4, qualifying for the Champions League next season.

The Senegal International was regular for the Reds last season and formed an impressive frontline with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. He managed to score 20 goals and assisted 8 in 42 appearances in all competitions.

He also helped helped his team to reach the Champions League final where they faced Real Madrid last month. He was on target in the final against the La Liga giants only for Klopp’s side to suffer a heartbreaking 3-1 defeat in Kiev.

The 26 year old was linked with a move to Real and there were reports that the player has agreed a deal to join then before Zinedine Zidane announced his retirement.

Mane is still linked with a move to Spain but the player has claimed that he is very happy at Liverpool amid transfer links. But refused to rule out a move in future from Anfield.

When asked directly by Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten whether he was moving to Real Madrid, he said: “I am very happy in Liverpool and my contract will last for three more years.”

The next question asked if he was staying in England, to which Mane replied: “As I said, I’m happy in Liverpool.

“But you never know what will happen in the future. I want to win trophies, especially the Champions League.”

On their loss in the Champions League final, the winger added: “To be honest, this defeat was not easy to put away. The whole club worked hard for this Champions League title, but Real Madrid were the better team that day.

“We lost to the best team in the world. The defeat is but ticked off. Now it is time to play with Senegal a good and successful World Cup. That’s my whole focus.”
