Liverpool star Mohamed Salah believes that winning their remaining games will make the club Premier League champions.

Liverpool kept their title hopes alive by beating Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield. Two goals from Sadio Mane and Salah within less than 150  seconds sealed the win for Liverpool. Eden Hazard had two chances to equalise for Chelsea. However, he hit the post while Alisson foiled his effort.

Salah’s goal took him to the top of the Premier League scoring charts alongside Sergio Aguero. This was Liverpool’s first win over Chelsea at Anfield since May 8, 2012.

Liverpool’s win over Chelsea came a few hours after Manchester City beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park thanks to a brace from Raheem Sterling and a goal from Gabriel Jesus.

Liverpool’s win puts them two points above City who have a game in hand.

Despite Manchester City still having an advantage, Mohamed Salah feels that Liverpool will win their first Premier League in nearly three decades if they win their remaining games against Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Newcastle United and Watford.

Salah said, “In my opinion, yes. We just need to focus on our game and hope Manchester City will lose points. I did follow Man City to see the result, it can help us but also it can push us to perform better. You need to score, you can’t lose any points, I knew the result of Manchester City’s game.”

Salah had a long goal drought but he has scored two goals in Liverpool’s last two league games including a screamer from 25 yards today. Despite being a contender to win the Premier League Golden Boot this season, many have raised doubts over Salah’s form this season as he has not been as prolific as he was for Liverpool last season. However, Salah feels that people questioning his form has influenced the form of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Salah said, “It’s different when other teams have two or three players on me. [Sadio] Mane is having a very good season, so is [Roberto] Firmino, they are scoring more goals than last season, because the attention on me is giving them more freedom, and I am very happy for them. It helps the team to score more goals, when they focus on my side the other side is free, we are a team and we focus on the team.

I am not complaining, I am happy with the result, we are first now so that’s the most important thing. The Premier League is the most important thing for me.”

Liverpool have now won what was undoubtedly the most difficult of their last 5 league games. The Reds’ next Premier League fixture is against Cardiff City next Sunday. Before that, Liverpool travel to Portugal to play the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Porto.
