Southampton Forward Djenepo Names Sadio Mane As Inspiration

Southampton forward Moussa Djenepo has clearly listed as Liverpool’s Sadio Mane as his role model.

However, the Malian forward has also said that while he likes Mane, he believes he “can be better”.

“Sadio is a big inspiration for me. I like him, he’s a very big player,” Djenepo remarked, according to TalkSport.

“But I think I can be better [than him] if I work hard. Sadio is a very big player, and I’m young and I need to learn more.

“In the future we will see. I will do my best to become the next Sadio Mane.”

Moussa Djenepo came from Standard Liege in summer 2019 to Southampton for £14million – and so far has been off to a good run at Southampton, which is why he has been compared to Mane.

Former striker Tony Cascarino had further drawn parallels to Djenepo and Mane, back in December 2019.

“He’s got that Mane in him where you just don’t know what way he’s going to go.

“He’s going to run at you, he’s going to do this little jinking movement and it’s very hard for a defender to know where he’s going to go, which side, left or right.”
