According to reports in England, Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana wants a return to Southampton to put his career back on track. The 31-year old began his career at Southampton, joining the club’s youth setup in 2000 before joining the senior team in 2006.

Lallana made 260 appearances for the Saints from 2006-2014, scoring 59 goals and providing 48 assists. His performances for Southampton attracted interest from Liverpool and Lallana eventually joined the club in 2014 on a transfer fee of £25 million.

Lallana was a regular for Liverpool up till 2017 as the arrival of Mohamed Salah and injuries saw him mainly on the bench. This season, Lallana has made only 16 appearances for Liverpool out of which, only 6 are starts.

Lallana feels that his career might suffer at Liverpool and has reportedly told friends that he wants to move back to Southampton.

Southampton are aware of Lallana’s situation and are plotting a transfer move for him. After surviving the relegation battle, Southampton might see many of their players leave this summer. Hence, a move to Southampton could benefit both the club and Lallana.
