According to German news publication BILD, Thiago is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer and has already said goodbye to his teammates.
It is believed that the Bavarians are looking for a bid anywhere close to €60m-€80m for their midfield veteran.
Thiago joined Bayern in 2013, when Pep Guardiola was in charge of the Bundesliga champions. He has been a mainstay in their midfield for years, collecting 230 appearances. However, his contract is due to run out in another 12 months while he nurses a groin injury that he picked up against Eintracht Frankfurt this month.
Thiago is no doubt, a very important player in the Bayern setup but he might be moved on for much younger options. Kicker claims that Bayern are eyeing up a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz. They are looking to use Thiago’s transfer fee to fund a move for Havertz, who could cost upwards of €100m in the current market.
One place where Thiago has been strongly linked with is Liverpool. Clearly, the reports might be inaccurate to a certain degree here. The Reds faulted in coming up with the funds to sign Timo Werner who only cost around €50m for Chelsea. How will they manage €10m for a player who they don’t necessarily need right now?
