It is so close and yet might just slip by.

Liverpool are just two wins at most away from a first Premier League title in their history and a league title after 3 decades of pain.

However, the pandemic of coronavirus has shut down football right now. So what do the Liverpool legends think about the situation where the season might have to be either called “null and void” or Liverpool might win it behind closed doors.

Here is what Liverpool ace Virgil Van Dijk had to say:

‘Anyone is entitled to their opinion and the conversation about us not winning the league for so long is something I shut out’, he said.

‘I just try to do my best every day. Other people from other clubs don’t bother us – but it’ll be nice to shut them up!’

Former Reds star Jamie Carragher is not one to take it sitting down either. When West Ham’s chairman Karen Brady called for the season to be declared null and void, Carragher immediately leapt to the defence of Liverpool on Twitter.

“Have a look at Klopp’s comments compared to Karren Brady’s. Whats fair is to finish the season for teams in every league when the season is allowed to start again. The authorities found a way to put a World Cup in the middle of a season so I’m sure they can sort next season out.”

Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool’s cult hero raised his voice as well for the Reds.

“What must definitely not happen is for the 2019-20 campaign to be declared null and void. That would not be fair, and any person with football at heart would admit that would be totally out of order.

“Would any person without an agenda really think it would be the most-sensible outcome to deny Liverpool their chance of winning the title after doing fantastically well in their 29 league games so far to build up a 25-point lead over Manchester City with nine games remaining?

“Of course not. Nobody can allow the hard work to count for nothing.

“So let’s do away with any of this talk, and try to use our time and energy wisely.”

“Like the rest of the us, I have no idea when the world will settle down and there will be some kind of normality back to our daily routines.

“But the authorities need to show patience and strong leadership.

“It could well be football is closed down for four weeks, and we resume in the middle of April, or towards the end of that month.

“There needs to be guidance and instruction on when competitive football will resume.”
