Youngster has had a breakthrough season at Anfield

Mohamed Salah grabbed all the headlines for his displays at Liverpool last season, but there are other players also who were excellent for the club. One of them is Alexander- Arnold, who progressed rapidly under Jurgen Klopp last term, even surprising him.

Arnold came through the ranks of Liverpool and made his debut for the senior team last season. He made just 12 appearances in the 2016/2107 campaign but committed his future to the Reds last summer, signing a long-term deal.

The 19 year old has had a break through season and established himself as a regular for the team. He has been solid at the back, managing to make 31 appearances in all competitions.

He received plaudits for his displays against Manchester City over the two legs in the Champions League and helped his to reach the final. Though they were defeated 3-1 by Real Madrid.

The youngster credits his success with the Premier League giants to his teammate James Milner and believes he has played a key part in his meteoric rise.

“James has taught me a lot,” Arnold told Sky Sports.

“Like me, he also came through really young, and he’s always there if I need to go to someone.

“It’s important to have those players around you.

“At Liverpool, he is one of the players who have been really successful in their career. He knows how to win things and how it’s done.

“He’s been a huge help to me this season.”

“He always comes up to me before a big game and tells me just to keep playing the way I play, not change my game too much.

“That’s one of the things that has really hit home for me, just to play how I play and not change for anyone.”
