Alexander-Arnold hinted that the plan is for him to ultimately transition into becoming a midfielder positionally.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has opened up on a route to become a midfielder and he enjoys taking a central role in games. The Englishman has performed as a full-back role for Liverpool.
The 24-year-old is having a great success under Jurgen Klopp. He has four goals in his last five matches and this is the best position in the long term.
Gareth Southgate has also utilised him in midfield in recent matches. All experts are considering him for the permanent position. Jurgen Klopp has been more reluctant to use the English international in a pure midfield role.
Jurgen Klopp moved Arnold into a central three for the second-half comeback in the 4-3 win over Fulham. He scored the late winner to help the Reds to strengthen their position on top of the table.
While talking with Liverpool Echo, Alexander-Arnold hinted that the plan is for him to ultimately transition into becoming a midfielder positionally.
“I think that’s probably the path and the route that I’m on,” he said if he sees himself playing in the middle of the pitch more often.
“Ultimately, not my decision, but I enjoy playing in the middle of the pitch and just want to help the team win games, to be honest.”
When he was asked about Liverpool’s strong start to the new season, he said: “I mean, so far so good. We’re in a decent, decent position right now, but it’s still early days.
“It’s a busy time of the season. We need to keep winning games, keep the momentum up, but it’s one that we’re excited about.”
