Virgil Van Dijk – is possibly a once in a generational defensive talent.
The European and World Champion is the toughest defender of the modern generation at the moment. He has now picked his most difficult opponents amidst other secret revelations on Twitter!
“There are some difficult strikers out there, but probably Leo Messi,” Van Dijk wrote on Twitter when asked who his toughest opponent was. VVD faced Messi in the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League campaign.
It was a tribute to the six-time Ballon d’Or winner! Van Dijk came third to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in last year’s FIFA best awards and Ballon D’Or.
He was closing in on Liverpool’s first-ever Premier League. However, due to the spread of the novel CoVID-19, football has been temporarily suspended.
It would be a big blow to Pep Guardiola’s City who had been winning it for the past two seasons. The two teams are the best now in England and possibly in Europe with Van Dijk also going on to admit that marking Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was the most difficult thing to do in a game.
VVD has time and again showed his humble side. Despite being almost invincible in over a year now, the man stays quiet and gives respect to his peers and competition. A champion if there ever was one.
