According to sources, Vincent Kompany has made a Liverpool defender one of his top priorities for Bayern Munich this summer. The surprise selection of the former captain of Manchester City as the new manager of Bayern Munich was revealed at the end of the previous month. Kompany joined the Bundesliga powerhouses shortly after Burnley’s Premier League relegation.
After making 51 appearances for Liverpool, Gomez, 27, had his greatest season ever as he played centre half, full back, and even held the midfield position. In anticipation of their opening Euro 2024 match against Serbia on Sunday, the defender is in Germany after regaining his spot for England under Gareth Southgate.
Bayern Munich are impressed by Joe Gomez’s versatility and want to sign him
Reporter David Anderson claims that as a result of Kompany’s rebuilding at Bayern, Gomez has become a top target. Gomez’s recent form has really impressed the former Burnley manager, and he has been added back to the England team for this summer’s Euros. Kompany will present his strategy for putting Bayern back in the running for the Bundesliga and Champions League crowns in an attempt to persuade the 27-year-old to come to the Allianz Arena.
Bayern, though, will have to pay a premium to acquire Gomez. Liverpool will put his price tag extremely expensive because they see him as a “hugely important” player for Slot. The fact that Liverpool was able to sign the 15-cap international to a long-term deal that extends until June 2027 puts them in a strong negotiating position.
