The player has been very impressive so far this season
Daniel Sturridge joined Liverpool from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £12 million, signing a long term contract in 2013. Since then he has scored 63 goals in 133 appearances for the club.
The 28 year old was pivotal for the Premier League giants during his first season and formed an impressive partnership with Luis Suarez. He helped the team to finish 2nd in the league and was the runner-up for the Premier League golden boot.
But for the past 2 season, the England International has struggled a lot with injuries and has just scored 10 goals in 41 appearances. He began the 2016/2017 season as an understudy to Roberto Firmino and mostly used as a substitute.
The Striker managed to score only 3 goals last season before moving to West Bromich Albion on a loan deal for the rest of the season in January. He failed to score any goals for the Baggies and his loan spell ended in relegation from the Premier League.
He was heavily linked with an exit before transfer deadline but Jurgen Klopp decided to keep hold of him after an impressive pre-season tour.
The player has been excellent so far for the Reds this season, the player has scored 4 goals in 7 appearances across all competitions. He scored against his former club Chelsea in the dying moments on Saturday as the match ended in 1-1, as the club are still undefeated in the Premier League.
Virgil Van has hailed Sturridge as World Class and believes his special effort against the Blues was no surprise.
“Before I arrived at Liverpool, I said he was one of the best strikers in the league and he shows it when he’s fit,” the centre-back told club’s official website.
“Of course he is good enough for England. There shouldn’t be any doubt. I know what he’s capable of, how good he can be and when he’s at his best, by playing against him and seeing him in training with the hard work that he puts in and the positivity he brings.
“We have a great squad, world-class players, and he’s one of them.”
