Virgil van Dijk insists he is not bothered by Liverpool’s inability to win a trophy.

The Reds need to put up an exemplary display at the Anfield next week after being outclassed by Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Much had been anticipated about this match but a Luis Suarez strike and a Lionel Messi brace took away the game from them.

Van Dijk recently lifted the PFA player of the year award and he has been an one man army in the Liverpool backline but he was made to look like a puppet by Messi and co. and now they need to be at their best when the Catalan giants visit the Merseyside.

Van Dijk said, “We’re not going to think about that.

“We’re having a good season and we will try to win something and, if not, we keep working.

“We can be proud of ourselves, we’re playing against one of the best teams in the world and obviously in the league we’re playing also against one of the best teams in the world.

“We’re in both races and I think many, many teams would love to be in our position.”
