Sadio Mane will miss the World Cup with crucial injury.

The clash between former teammates Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane was one of the eagerly anticipated games in the World Cup this year.

Senegal’s all-time leading goalscorer’s absence would definitely make it tough for manager Aliou Cisse.

His absence would making it easier for Netherlands to beat Senegal and former Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk reached out to Mane after his World Cup dream ended.

“Yes, I called him [immediately after the injury],” Van Dijk told reporters in Qatar.

“I wanted to know how he was because there were so many rumours.

“Unfortunately at the time, it was not the best news. I feel sad for him, I know how hard he works for this, and he has been important for Senegal.

“He’s obviously a big miss for them, but hopefully we can benefit from that a little.”
