Virgil Van Dijk has made light of Alisson Becker’s injury and has backed Adrian to replace him in the team for the period.
Alisson Becker, Liverpool’s first choice goalkeeper started the match for the Reds in the first round of fixtures in the English Premier League against Norwich City but was forced off before half time by what appeared to be a calf injury.
However, Liverpool had recently purchased former West Ham custodian Adrian, the 32 year old and having played for so long in the Premier League, VVD has backed the new signing to settle in quickly.
“I think he’s at that kind of age, that stage of his life and career that he can come in and slot into the team pretty easy,” said Van Dijk, according to the Independent. “He’s been through so many things in the Premier League he can just slot in pretty easy.”
Speaking of Alisson’s injury, Van Dijk sounded grim.
“He’s very important for us, but I have no idea what the actual damage is,” admitted Van Dijk.
“We’ll see over the next days what the outcome is going to be. We have to deal with it and we’re going to deal with it.”
