After their Champions League triumph last season, Liverpool will compete in the Fifa Club World Cup at the end of the calendar year.

The Reds will be Europe’s representatives in the draw and could face one of three sides in the semi-finals.

Jurgen Klopp’s outfit will head to Qatar in search of further silverware, taking on the best teams from other continents around the globe at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Liverpool will enter into the competition at the semi-finals stage, but there are two previous rounds that will feed into their tie – meaning they could play one of three teams.

Home hopefuls Al Sadd will take on New Caledonian outfit Hienghene Sport in round one, with Mexico’s Monterrey awaiting the winner at the next stage. As a result, Liverpool will face either Al Sadd, Hienghene Sport or Monterrey in the Club World Cup in Qatar after the draw was made in Zurich.

The winner of that tie will meet the Copa Libertadores champions. It’s guaranteed that either an Argentine or Brazilian club will be entered in the draw, with River Plate and Boca Juniors meeting in the semi-finals and Gremio and Flamengo in the other section of the Copa Libertadores draw.

Match 1: Al Sadd – Hienghene Sport

Match 2: Al Sadd/Hienghene Sport – CF Monterrey

Match 3: ES Tunis – AFC Champions League winners

Semi-final 1: Copa Libertadores champions – Match 3 winners

Semi-final 2: Liverpool – Match 2 winners

Final: Semi-final 1 winners – Semi-final 2 winners

Liverpool’s last appearance in the competition came in 2005. They were beaten by Sao Paulo in the final. This year’s tournament will take place in Qatar from 11 December to 21 December.
