Why Timo Werner Would The Perfect Player At Liverpool

Liverpool have been deemed to be the perfect fit for RB Leipzig forward, Timo Werner.

It has been a season of constant speculation behind the 24-year-old’s possible transfer to Anfield pas the 2019/20 season.

Jurgen Klopp and Werner hold each other to high regard and are eager to work together at club level. Liverpool are no doubt, the favourites to land Werner, who has scored 27 goals in 36 appearances this season.

His former coach, Ralph Rangnick outlined why Werner would be a perfect addition to the current Liverpool side. “The league is less important, but the club, from a purely hypothetical point of view, I would better see him in good hands with a club that is not necessarily defined by ball possession football,” he told BILD (via Onefootball).

“Since Timo has made progress under Julian Nagelsmann, his most important weapons, however, are the quick switching movement and his powerful finish. Therefore, he would rather fit a club like Liverpool, which is similar to our style of play, but I would prefer him to stay here.”

Rangnick certainly makes a valid point in terms of pure football. Werner’s pace is second to none and he is already one of Europe’s elite finishers. He needs a manager like Klopp to unleash his best traits in a flexible front three. The only problem will be sacrificing one of the current players for the German international.
