Danny Murphy wants Liverpool to move on from Joel Matip

According to HITC, Wolverhampton Wanderers is one of the Premier League teams considering a deal for former Liverpool defender Joel Matip, who is open to free transfers. The 33-year-old Cameroonian international is being considered by Wolves, Bournemouth, and Fulham, and he could soon make his way back to the Premier League. Matip’s contract with Liverpool expired three months ago, making him a free agent. He is currently actively looking for his next career option.

The 33-year-old is reportedly in talks with teams in France and Germany, and the three Premier League teams are reportedly considering signing the Champions League winner. Along with goalkeeper Adrian, who left Anfield on a free transfer to join Real Betis, and retired player Thiago Alcantara, Matip was among several players that left before the start of the new season.

Wolves considering contract offer for “fantastic” £7m-rated free agent

Although another unattached center-half Oumar Solet seems to be higher up on their radar, HITC can confirm that The Hammers, along with Bournemouth, Fulham, and Wolves, do indeed have room in their 25-man Premier League roster for a free-agent addition.

Although Matip, who turned 33 in August, only played 14 games in his final season at Anfield due to injuries, the defender brings a wealth of experience to the table and could be a valuable addition to a team like Wolves, who are currently fighting at the bottom of the table. Matip would provide competition to a defense that currently includes Toti, Santiago Bueno, Yerson Mosquera, Craig Dawson, and Bastien Meupiyou. Matip is valued at €8 million, or approximately £7 million.
